Spring flower postie

Around this time last year, I remember doing a spring flower post to show off my little foster dog Collette among the azaleas and roses.

Actually, it was a little earlier last year, as its been an unusually cool spring. Last year, there was a blast of color as everything came into bloom all at once.
This year, things have been trickling into flower gradually.

So this is a slightly more mellow post, as is fitting to accompany a much more mellow foster dog.

There is quite the profusion of intense purples and blues.

I was sure I wouldn't have Lady for long, as she is a mellow older non-pittie in a town of hyperactive young pitties. I sure thought she would be adopted at the adoption event we went to last weekend, but it was a rainy day and very few people ended up coming to the event.

All that rain is good for the flowers, but has also cooled things down and slowed the flowering. Which is kind of nice, as we get to enjoy them for longer.

I would not say that I have a very green thumb, as I seem to get distracted easily and I can't focus on the garden long enough to get it thoroughly weeded and looking organized.

But I maintain it enough that it brings me joy to look at it.

OK, you inspired me. Time to go weed for a bit!

  1. Pretty! I love the colors of spring.

It was wonderful to meet you on Friday night, by the way. :)

  2. I'm not a gardener. My goal this year is to keep the front of the house looking neat and nice. Generally, I let the weeds get a little big and our house starts to take on that "repossessed" look. Not this year though. I love looking at all the lovely pictures of my gardening friends. Your pictures are beautiful.

  4. Hi Kirsten, it's been a bit cool up here too. The flowers are blooming though. Our peonies came through so that's always good. You have a very nice garden.

  5. What a charming and inviting gardening. I like your philosophy of flowering rather than formal gardening.

Why do I always proofread after I publish?

  7. Kirsten,

It was amazing meeting you on Friday night, I'm so glad you remembered and gave me a call. My head was literally spinning. :-)

You are an amazing woman and so inspiring to me with everything you do for our four-legged friends.

I'm sorry that Lady didn't get adopted this weekend, but the positive is that she has more time with you to help shape her and give her the skills she will need to succeed.

I do believe there really are angels on earth, and one of them is a friend of mine named Kirsten.

  9. I agree - Lady looks very comfortable where she is, though her real home is out there...looking for her :). Our spring is late, too, and I'm no gardener - enjoyed the posies.

  10. We love our garden but it's looking bare right now as we have such cold weather, very poor for the year. Lady looks such a sweetie, really lovely. We are hoping our weather improves soon otherwise our flowers are going to really struggle this summer to do anything. I love your clematis, one of my favourite flowers X

  11. Lovely! Must say I don't have a gardener's heart myself. But I love the flowers that are hardy enough to survive my neglect and share their beauty anyway.

So sorry to hear I missed seeing you at BlogPaws. But glad you got to take advantage of it being close to home to meet up with some friends.

  12. Very pretty! We haven't got much flowering yet in our gardens, just some tulips and the lilacs. With the hot weather now upon us for a few days, the daisies and sunflowers (favorites!) will be coming along soon.
