I was pretty sure he'd get along with any active dog I brought home, and thought the chances were even better if it was a female.
But there's always a question, with dogs, of whether there will be that certain chemistry that makes them really get along. But Sandy needed a place to go, and there wasn't really time to see how they liked each other.
So I went to the shelter, loaded the little wiggling ball of fire into the van, and struggled to keep my eyes on the road as this precious little red froggie sprawled out on the floor next to the driver's seat and sprawled the back paws out behind her.
When I got her home, there were just a few tense moments when Fozzie wondered just WHAT I had done. Then, they were OFF!
Humping, romping, Sandy riding Fozzie around like he's a pony.
Slurping and digging and flapping in the doggie pool, drool flying akimbo.
They keep going and going and going, just like Fozzie used to with Lars.
Even in the face of full-on exhaustion, they keep going. Why? I just don't get these little monsters.
Thank goodness for dog crates!

We just love her little face! Oh & the pose in the dog crate!! Glad they are getting along so well; having dogs who do not like each other much, makes things very difficult (ask our grouchy old ladies).
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a relief :) We definitely have our share of grouchy...Lamar is not too thrilled about the whole thing, but he's getting lots of treats to stave off the grumpy growls!
ReplyDeleteOMG!! So cute!!!! She looks so happy and he looks so content to have such a nice buddy!! How exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteSandy looks like such a fantastic girl! If she is as vivacious as she sounds, I doubt she will be with you long. That photo of her in the crate would have me lining up to adopt her in seconds!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristine! That's great feedback--good for me to know which pictures are best for promotional purposes :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Tena! She is just an incredibly happy little thing. I guess all puppies are like that, but its been a while since I had one in the house--where do they get all that energy?
ReplyDeleteI am so glad they get along! It looks like they are having a blast! Maybe Fozzie is meant to stay with you and be a good influence to other fosters??? :)
ReplyDeleteTime will tell :) That was part of the purpose of getting this little girl--to put everything in perspective and help me decide what to do about Fozzie! But I have to say that I am so impressed with how gentlemanly and good he is being.
ReplyDeleteawesome!!! i love their brindle, it's fun to compare and contrast.
ReplyDeleteYay--thank you for noticing! I didn't even notice her brindle at first, it is so subtle. But so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great when you have two dogs that get along so well. I've been very lucky in that respect!
ReplyDeleteSandy looks gorgeous:) I think Frankie would like to come and live at your place, Sandy and Fozzie play like he does. They would all have a blast! Looks like you have lots of happy times ahead of you ... unless someone snaps up Sandy quickly, and why wouldn't they! Lamar is probably very pleased Sandy is there to play with Fozzie:)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind comments on my blog, Kirsten:) I love your blog, your training philosophy and life philosophy. And I'm enjoying wandering around your blog roll:)
Well, I'm not sure Lamar is pleased..he's hard to read :) But its good to have Sandy here, and I'm glad she likes her crate every now and then--not even Fozzie can keep up with her!
ReplyDeleteHope all is going well with you and yours, and I'll look forward to when you are ready to return to blogging :)
It is a beautiful thing to watch! I think Fozzie, to his credit, would get along with most any dog--but Sandy is a good match!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad all your little noses get along--and doubly impressed that you maintain a multi-species household! (I have a couple of budgies, but they're so low maintenance I'm not sure they count)
Dogs love us humans, but there is no denying that they love the companionship of other dogs even more!
ReplyDeleteWyatt's Mom
It's amazing to me to see Fozzie actually acting tired sometimes now! But you're right, I think he really needed this companionship.
ReplyDeleteThis post makes me happeeee! :)
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled to hear of how well everything is going-- I am also thrilled to see how much your readership has grown over the past few weeks. WOW! Great work, Kirsten!
ReplyDeleteThank you Aleks:) I miss those two little pains in the butt and am looking forward to watching their antics again. And yes indeedy, this is a wonderful blog community we've got here. Thanks for helping me discover it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth! They are a huge joy to be around, those little things.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why I *haven't* fostered again... Our Best Friend doesn't play, and if the chemistry is off I'm afraid of the consequences. :( Maybe in a few more years, as he mellows with age.
ReplyDeleteIf I were sensible, I wouldn't be doing it right now...I just had one of those moments where common sense was blown right away. Hopefully, these little pups will be adopted!
